Check out our Teen Program Line Up for Spring!

Where did April go?

A reoccurring theme to the Teen Blog, where has the time gone!

Update on what’s been happening here!

The Lincoln Public Library was invited to be a part of the Town of Lincoln’s Volunteer Fair on Wednesday April 15th. I would like to thank all the teens that came out and asked questions! Thanks for making April 15th a great day! For those of you who have filled out forms. Thanks again and I will be in touch.

On Thursday April 23, the Fleming Centre was the place to be if you were in grade six. All the grade six classes in Lincoln were invited to participate in the Rotary’s Stand by Me program. All the community organizations in Lincoln were in the Fleming Centre’s arena showing the teens about what there is to do and see in our great Town.  There was even pizza for lunch.

What the library did for Stand by Me was showing off our great new Library!  We conducted tours all day and talked about our fabulous programs and volunteer opportunities.

Our signups for teen programs has been slow this spring. So if you are interested in any of the programs please register so we can run them.

If you have an idea for a program that you think the library should run, please contact me, Margaret at 905-563-7014  Or you can even join our Teen Advisory Committee have help plan programs and help with book selection and even earn community service hours.

That’s all for now!

Obama Appoints James Patterson 'Book Czar'

President Barack Obama has appointed bestselling author and noted book industry philanthropist James Patterson to coordinate the administration's support of independent bookstores nationwide, a White House official confirmed Monday. The new "Book Czar" will report directly to the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration.

Newly appointed Book Czar James Patterson

"The President has asked Mr. Patterson to take on the task of coordinating the administration's efforts in promoting independent bookstores," the White House official said. "We figure he's done a hell of a lot more than the entire federal government to help indies. And as far as we know, he hasn't held any fawning press conferences at Amazon warehouses."

Obama himself said that as a requirement for the job, Patterson had to suspend his #SaveOurBooks campaign, launched last fall, which involved a petition asking the president to pledge that once a month, he would go into a library, bookstore or appear in public with a book in his hands.

"Heck, I buy books with the kids at Politics & Prose once a year," Obama said. "And I told Eric we don't need to cripple the big publishers anymore than we have. Isn't that enough?"

Republican lawmakers immediately attacked the appointment because--well, because Obama made it. --Robert Gray

Too bad that  Zyan Malik decision to leave One Direction was not an April Fools Day prank. Oh well, all the best to the group.

If you have come across any great pranks! Let me know by leaving a comment.

In order for the club to run we need at least 5 participants at once. Our focus will be on improv and other skills. No performance in front of families this time! :)  Sign up today... our official start will be Monday April 20th, 2015.

Happy Spring!

Well March Break has come and gone!

Here is a great pic of one of my fabulous participants at the Wreck it Journal program.

Our inspiration is the author/artist Keri Smith
